Cub Scouts : First Aid
FIRST AID KITS
First Aid Kits come in all shapes and sizes from the very small top the very large. Depending on what activity you are doing the size of the first aid kit will change.
First Aid kits can be purchased from most phamacies, however as a cub/macoimh you should know what goes into a basic first aid kit and your should be able to make one up yourself.
HOW TO PUT A KIT TOGETHER
To make a basic first aid kit for a hike or other cub/macaoimh activity you can use things that you already have at home and put them into a smaller holder such an old lunch box, a small sweet tin or a bum bag.
The list below gices you an idea for some of the items to include, but you can include other items as well.
CONTENTS OF FIRST AID KIT
Bandages (Band Aid or Elastoplast)
Small bottle of Anticeptic (Dettol or TCP)
Cotton Wool
Small Sissors
Triangular Bandange
Anticeptic Wipes
Roller Bandage
Coins / Callcard for Public Phone
Note: You should not include any medicines or tablets in the first aid kit. It can be dangerous to give people tablets (even for a headache) if they have an injury. The most important thing to do is to get adult help.
