Adventure Skills give you the necessary knowledge and abilities to undertake your programme of activities. There are nine areas:
Camping, Backwoods, Pioneering, Hillwalking, Emergencies, Air Activities, Paddling, Rowing, Sailing
If you have come through the younger age sections you will be familiar with these and will have developed a number of the skills to various stages. In Venture Scouts you can continue to develop the skills you have worked on to date, try skills you have not attempted before, or simply start to specialise in a small number of skills. If you joined Venture Scouts off the street, then you should have a look at what is on offer in the Adventure Skills. You may have experience of some of the skills from other areas of your life, or they might all be new to you. Either way, you will need to start at the beginning with whatever skills take your interest. But don’t worry, you will quickly work through the initial stages.
Full details about the Adventure Skills are contained in the Adventure Skills Book.
