Today the 22nd of February marks Founders Day and Thinking Day celebrated by Scouts and Guides, respectively around the world.
It celebrates the birthdays and work of Lord Robert Baden Powell who founded the Scout Movement and Olave Baden Powell who was World Chief Guide.
Founders Day always makes me think of the global movement that is Scouting, a movement with 57 million young people and volunteers worldwide. All of whom are working to create a better world.
Founders Day is a great opportunity to reflect on the part you play in Scouting and in creating a better world. It's a time to consider am I doing my best?
This Founders Day I am thinking of the Scout Promise and Scout Law and I am considering whether or not I am doing my best to live by it today and every day.
To all of the Scouts and Guides, in Ireland and abroad, Happy Founders Day and Thinking Day!
