Dear Members,
Volunteering is the lifeblood of scouting worldwide, without the generosity of our scout volunteers, their families and their community supporters we would not exist.
Volunteers provide an array of talents and skills which supports young people to achieve their full potential in making a positive contribution to their communities.
The variety of activities enjoyed by young people in Scouting such as hiking, water activities, mountaineering and camping would not be possible without the generosity of volunteers.
Following the negative impact of the Covid pandemic on Scouting which depleted our number of both adult volunteers and young people, we are delighted to observe that participation levels have grown strongly in 2023 and we anticipate that membership will be at pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2024.
I take the opportunity on International Volunteer Day to thank our army of volunteers for their generosity of spirit in the time that they give to scouting, which helps build better communities and contributes to a sustainable and inclusive society.
