We would like to invite you and your Scout Group to attend a special Remembrance Service at Larch Hill on Sunday, 23rd of June. This service aims to honour and remember those cherished members of our Scouting community who have sadly passed away over the past number of years.
We believe gathering as a united Scouting family is essential to commemorate the lives and contributions of our fellow Scouts who have left us. This occasion will allow us to reflect on their impact, share our memories, and find solace in the collective support we offer each other during these challenging times.
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Sunday, 23rd June 2024
Time: 14.00 – 15.30hrs
Venue: Larch Hill Campsite, Tibradden, Dublin D16 P023
The Remembrance Service will be conducted with utmost reverence, incorporating Scouting traditions and spiritual reflection elements. We kindly request that Scout Groups designate a representative to participate in the service on behalf of your Group. This representative can be a Scouter or a Young Person, or both.
We encourage you to invite the families and friends of the departed Scouts to join us in this service of remembrance. It will provide an opportunity for them to witness the lasting impact their loved ones had on the Scouting community and find solace in support of fellow Scouts.
As we remember and pay tribute to those who have left us, let us also draw strength from the bonds we share as Scouts, embracing the values and camaraderie that make our movement special.
Our song sheet for the day is attached below. If you would like to have a member who has passed away remembered, please submit the name and your Scout Group’s name to awards@scouts.ie by Sunday, the 18th of June 2023. It would be nice if Scout Groups brought their Group flags to the ceremony. Members should bring light refreshments; tea & coffee will be served.
Yours in Scouting,
Bill James
