The Crean Challenge Expedition 2025 kicked off on February 14th with 32 Irish scouts and 12 scouters safely arriving at the Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre in Iceland. Despite minimal snow, the Aurora Borealis made a brief appearance, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure.
The Irish scouts tackled Icelandic hiking conditions, learned new skills, and participated in cultural exchanges with Icelandic Scouts. With temperatures dropping to -6°C, they embraced the challenge, even enduring wet and muddy conditions during the 15 km expedition on Day 6. Though the route had to be altered due to impassable terrain, the scouts showed great resilience.
The event wrapped up on February 22nd with the presentation of the Crean Challenge Expedition 2025 awards in Reykjavik. Special thanks to Chief Scouts Harpa Ósk Valgeirsdóttir, from the Icelandic Scout Association, and Eoin Callanan for attending the ceremony.
The Irish scouts return home with lasting memories and new friendships.
