Preparation for Roverway 2024 Norway is well and truly in full swing! With less than 3 months to go, the contingent recently had their first contingent camp in Portlick where, 107 participants, IST & CMT attended. While the weather may have been less than favourable at camp, it gave the contingent a good sense of what to expect in Norway while out on their Paths. Despite the weather, the weekend was a great success with lots of educational stations for the patrols to work their way through. The Norwegian Embassy also gave a great talk on, Norwegian culture, heritage, wildlife, and food, they even gifted each participant with a unique Irish/Norwegian flag pin to mark the event.
Each Patrol in the contingent has now been assigned their Paths, the Irish contingent has 14 Patrols in total and, each Patrol will be on a different Path for the first 5 days of the expedition. The Paths are spread across Norway, with some taking place in Sweden and Denmark. Each Path has various activities like hiking, kayaking, cliff climbing and sailing with some Paths being static and, some being dynamic. After 5 days out on their Path, each patrol will then assemble in the city of Stavanger located in the southern part of Norway, here they will have an epic 6-day Jamboree with 5500 Venture & Rover Scouts from all over the world. To top it off, the Irish contingent will then travel to the Netherlands for a 3-day post Camp.
