The Safeguarding Department are pleased to launch Scouting Ireland's “COSAINT” (SAFEGUARDING) CARD.
The wallet-sized cards are a Safeguarding snapshot and a prompt for Scouters on Safeguarding principles, relationships, and alcohol use. Importantly, it reminds Scouters anyone can make a referral/report to the Safeguarding Department about a concern and has a QR code/links to the Safeguarding website.
The cards supplement Scouting Ireland's code of behaviour, Safeguarding statements, and mandatory Safeguarding training.
The cards will be rolled out in the coming weeks via Provincial Support Officers, County Commissioners, and at training and other events.
Ultimately, in due course, every Scouter should have a Cosaint card and be familiar with its contents. They can be used for and by Venture Scouts to learn about Safeguarding principles as part of preparing for leadership.
We hope that the cards will be a useful resource in ensuring the principles of Children First and we welcome feedback in the Safeguarding Department on safeguarding@Scouts.ie
